My name is Gretchen, and my husband and I have four wonderful girls. Each pregnancy posed different circumstances and their births opened my eyes to a world of possibilities. I have been a Doula for 7 years, and have assisted in over 6 doz births in that time. Each one different, but each a miracle in itself. I have experienced both high and low risk pregnancies myself, and bring that knowledge with me.
My first and third and fourth pregnancies were wonderful. Something new each time, but no complications and both were born un-medicated, and vaginally. My second pregnancy and birth was anything but normal. We found out at 8 weeks I was carrying triplets and that I would lose at least two of them due to heart problems. I carried all three babies to 39 weeks, even though my twins did indeed pass away at 26 weeks. My miracle was born healthy and happy, and I'll never forget a single thing I learned those 39 weeks. I've seen every test, heard every theory, and even switched docs because of some of them.
I want to take my experiences and lessons and help future moms to avoid the common pitfalls of hospital births, and to be a support through any situation.
I am now in training to be a Certified Professional Midwife.
I look forward to meeting you, to knowing your story, and helping you reach your ideal birth.
I believe every woman who wants a Doula should have one, regardless of their age or financial situation.
There is a large population of women that do not know what a Doula is, or what a Doula can do for them.
I have started "The Open Arms Project" to offer reduced cost/pro bono Birth Doula services to our local moms-to-be who can not afford one and to teen moms.

I look forward to hearing from you.
